New Website Features - Map Rides and Routes

New features added to create routes and custom maps.

Click the "New map" link on your account page to access these new features. Also, brought back the link to create blog entries. Simply click "Write" on your profile page.

There are three types of maps available:

1. Ride

Now you can map a ride manually that you finished earlier and keep a record online. The distance will be calculated automatically and added to your total distance summary.

2. QuickMiles

This is essentially a QuickMiles calculator. You use the map to draw your route, the mapping software calculates your total distance for you and you save that total distance to your QuickMiles log along with the date of the ride and any notes that you would like to add. The map route itself is not saved, only the distance.

3. Route

Route is a neat feature that allows you to create a route for later rides. Optimize your commute, or make your route longer. Take a more bike friendly road, or take the long way home for a more enjoyable ride. Challenge yourself - draw a new route then hit the road and try it out. If you see a ride that you like on the website, easily add that ride to your routes. You can save routes along with the total distance and notes for that route. The routes can be viewed later on. This feature will integrate with the upcoming iPhone application and possibly a future Android app release. Successful testing for the iPhone app route feature is already in progress.
